Explore Old Havana like with a local! This walking engagement with a Cuban local while exploring through the colorful streets to the 4 main squares and parks of the historic center: Plaza Vieja, Plaza de Armas, Plaza de San Francisco de Asís and Plaza de la Catedral. Interact with your local Cuban guide who will explain the ongoing restoration and conservation projects in the area. Old Havana was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982. You will have the opportunity to engage with the self-employed Cuban individuals “Cuentapropistas” who run the privately-owned open air art store fronts and sell their arts and crafts.  Enjoy lunch at an independently owned and operated local “paladar”, restaurant. Take this opportunity to experience the entrepreneurial endeavors of the Cuban people. You will have the opportunity to interact with the Cuban restaurant staff to learn about the process of working at an independent enterprise.  After lunch, you will be picked up for an American classic car ride! You will have the opportunity to interact with your Cuban driver and car owner to discuss the process of private ownership of such a classic car in Cuba as well as discuss the community car club they are a member of which works to educate and preserve the individual time capsules. Your Cuban driver and car owner will take you on am interactive journey through the main streets of Havana. Drive along the Malecón and Paseo de Prado. Cruise past Parque Central, Gran Teatro de La Habana Alicia Alonso and the Capitol. Stop at Revolution Square for a great photo-op. And much more!

This tour visits many local privately-owned shops that sell souvenirs, arts & crafts. If you shop at any of these places, you’re also supporting a Cuban family and other people you interact with. A little goes a long way.
